Grief after the loss of a child, grandchild, or sibling is a journey no one should have to face alone.
At The Compassionate Friends of Eastern Arkansas, our monthly support meetings provide a welcoming, compassionate environment where bereaved families can connect with others who truly understand.
Whether your loss occurred weeks ago or decades ago, you are welcome. There is no timeline for grief, and there is no expectation that you "move on."
Our goal is simply to provide a place where families can find understanding, hope, and companionship from those who have walked a similar path.
You are never required to speak.
Some people come to share their story, while others simply listen.
Both are welcome.
Walking into your first meeting can feel overwhelming. Many people arrive feeling anxious, uncertain, or wondering if they're "ready." Those feelings are completely normal.
When you arrive, you'll be welcomed by caring chapter volunteers and members who understand how difficult taking that first step can be.
During each meeting, you'll find:
A warm, welcoming atmosphere
Compassionate people who understand child loss firsthand
Confidential conversations in a safe, judgment-free environment
Opportunities to share your story—only if you choose
Encouragement, friendship, and hope from others who have experienced similar loss
Resources and information to support your grief journey
There is no pressure to speak, no expectations placed upon you, and no "right" way to grieve. Sometimes simply being in a room with people who understand can bring comfort.
